My overdue amount at end of May was 148.88 which I forgot to pay. I received statement with a late charge fee of R76.64. My total balance to date is 4803.71. I called accounts department and the agent informed me the late charge is worked from the highest balance. why should i pay for a charge on the amount that is not overdue? only 148.88 is overdue and 76.64 is more than 51% of the overdue amount. I have asked to speak to a supervisor and I am still holding for 10 minutes and counting. I apologise for the late payment, I will gladly pay the overdue amount of 148.88 but refuse to pay the 76.64, it has to be revised. what is your policy on late charge assessment? what percentage to you apply? and why penalise me on the total balance when the total balance is not overdue but only 148.88. Why am I being made to hold on for so long just to speak to a supervisor?
