Cape Union Mart
Garmin Watch - Replace Battery

On 27 April I took 2 Garmin watches to the V&A store to get the batteries replaced. I was told this could only be done in JHB and that they would need to courier the watches. The sales guy said it was R200 per watch for the replacement and that they would call me when the watches returned. Today I received a call telling me there is an extra cost of R170 per watch. This was not mentioned when the watches were first sent and I assumed the R400 covered the delivery and repair as the salesman stated. On further research I found that Garmin have a repair center in CT where they could do the necessary. Why would you send them away for an exorbitant fee when it can be done in CT. The lady said the courier fee is high because it is overnight - I asked why it has been a month already if it is couriered overnight. She said that Garmin's turnaround time is 4 weeks. I called Garmin, they say max 14 days. There are 3 things here. 1) the ridiculous "courier fee" 2) a sudden extra cost I was not aware of. 3) Why send to JHB when there is a repair center in CT - rather send to or advise your customers of the CT repair center. I am disgusted with the dishonesty and disregard for the client!
