I have been an account holder with Edgars for around 20 years. At the end of April I went on vacation without email access, so I could not retrieve my account. As I thought the instalment was around R600.00, I paid that to ensure that I do not skip a payment. Man, still a mistake. I was contacted this week to inform me that I paid R200.00 short. I stated that I will pay the amount but I obviously took too long for their liking (sorry, I have just started a business, R200 that NB???) as today I received an SMS, informing me that I have now been reported to the big bad credit bureau as a slow payer (scary) - this after paying on time, often more that the instalment, for 20 years!! I phoned customer care and stayed on the line for 15 minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor, obviously not interested in dealing with the potential loss of a long standing customer. I will pay my outstanding balance of R3188 today and I will close this account. I will no longer support the Edcon Group, won't even buy cash. I am sure they won't miss the potential future spent or around 200k. Good for you Edgars, well done on your customer loyalty and call centre service - all for R200. Bye bye!
