No response to requests to cancel service

Account MB251939. A request to cancel was sent to ADT on 7th December 2012, when the annual statement was received.

Since then, on or about 6th of each month since January, a statement has been received showing various sums owed. Each time a phone call has been made to ADT, followed by an email. On the phone I am told that the account has indeed been cancelled and they (ADT) will send an email to their Jhb office. An automated response is received from ADT from the email, but nothing else.

On 9th April, a letter and statement was received from ADT advising that I had been handed over to their PRE-LEGAL dept and notification had been given to credit bureaux.

ADT (on the phone) advise they will send another email to Jhb cancelling the account, but maybe I should speak to someone in Jhb and put me through. A very disinterested person then answered the phone and when she heard the nature of the enquiry, cut off the call.

Today, another statement has been received showing yet another amount outstanding, as if the account is still active.

Reading other complaints and speaking to friends who have an ongoing battle with ADT re account mess-ups, I wonder at their expertise.
