Poor back up service for expensive system

We installed a new wireless alarm system in June 2013. We had our previous system with ADT for 22 years with no problems. The new alarm continually goes off in the middle of the night for no reason. In addition it doesn't allow one to re activate sometimes for hours. We reported this to the technical department and they told us how to try resolve the problem ourselves. This worked for a few days and then the problem started again. I have now requested a technician to come to see why it keeps setting off false alarms and have been told that I must pay a service call out! The system is only guaranteed for 6 month and we are now out of guarantee. ADT obviously doesn't have faith in its own products if it only offers a 6 month warranty? Besides the fact that has taken the technical department 5 days to call me to set up the appointment, they also now insist that I pay the service fee before they come! Having been with ADT for 23 years and not ever missed a payment, I find this extremely distasteful! Surely if a company sells a product they should back it up without having to charge for something that is clearly the fault of the system or installation?
