Why do they call it an alarm if it does not work

I installed an alarm System a few months ago and yesterday we noticed that robbers got in and took a equipment and computers without being detected by the so- called alarm system and went out again.

Now we are being sent a quotation of -R2k to install better beams. Why were we not told about this in the first place?

They are working with the robbers.
