ADT-Not so secure

I moved into a new house and had to activate my alarm, being ADT. I submitted a contact request on their website, phoned their head office, as well as my area office, in the hope that someone would come see me as I needed reactivation of the alarm as well as other modifications done. A week later (after subsequently being contacted within a day by another security company in my area), ADT contacted me (whereby at this stage I had given up hope of being contacted by ADT and subscribed to the services of the other aforementioned security co, as I was going away for business and couldn't afford not to have a security system installed.)
When the other security co came and installed all their goodies, they could not gain access to the security panel, as ADT had installed a special code. I contacted ADT and after a very frustrating 40 minutes on the phone, now have to cough up almost R500, in order for their techs to come out and "disable" the box, so the other security co can access the box so they can do what I want. I just feel now I am paying for their slow turnaround times, as I would have gladly went with ADT had they contacted me promptly.
