In March this year my fiance and I bought a house and signed up with ADT. There was an old alarm system in the house already when we moved in. The sales persons failed to inform us that there is a rented option available where you get a new alarm installed. At the time we signed a contract and paid R1170 to have pet sensors installed. The old alarm in our house keeps giving us trouble, sometimes going off 4 times a day. We were told this is due to the radio signal. Then when in Kenilworths centre one day, we saw ADT advertising a free alarm with a 2 year contract. We enquired about this and eventually were told we can cancel our existing contract and get a new contract with a new alarm. Yesterday another sales person came round and told us we'll be charged to have the pet sensors installed again. I refuse to have to pay for this again. We weren't told of this option when we first signed up and we paid for our pet sensors already, so why do I have to pay for it again? This is a terrible way to treat customers. At this stage I am very tempted to sign up with another security company since my contract with ADT has been cancelled and we haven't yet signed up for the new contract.
