I initially wanted to move my ADT system to my new premises, however due to bad service (this was at the hands of Sthembiso Dlodlo ("SD"), I decided to terminate the service entirely. I provided a months written notice to ADT anyway. I was told telephonically and in a letter that my contract required a "calendar" months written notice. I requested a copy of the contract and discovered the notice required was 1 month's written notice only. I advised Sheraaz who never responded to me on mail again. I formally requested a refund of the premium that ADT had already been paid and placed a stop order on the ADT debit order. I was then contacted again by SD.I was advised that the contract states 1 months written notice (omitting the calendar month discussion) but says that I have paid in arrears (not advance) and that a further amount will be deducted as opposed to refunded to me. I resisted this preposterous claim and after reading the contract, confirmed payment in advance. Despite a mail to ADT, no one has contacted me to resolve. I am in the process of lodging a complaint with the Consumer Counsel, a large corporate what little I have, I will not stand for. PUBLIC BEWARE OF ADT ROUGUES.
