Mix Telematics Africa (Matrix Vehicle Tracking)
Flaws in Vehicle Tracking System

Our Mx3 (Geoloc) unit was replaced with 'New' Mx3 (DID) unit on Matrix suggestion. The DID technology has very serious flaws and is a DOWNGRADE from the Geoloc system.

Flaw 1: The DID's range is large and does not have to be close to the vehicle when the car is started. My vehicle can be started even when parked outside my home with the DID locked away inside the house. The DID alarm will then only be activated once the ignition is switched off and then on again. This could be hours or thousands of km later.

Flaw 2: The Geoloc requires the driver to manually disarm the system after the ignition is switched on & provides extra security in event of being hijacked at the point of getting into the car. The DID is of no use in this regard.

How Matrix can refer to the DID system as an improvement is beyond comprehension.

Matrix staff have admitted to me that they are aware that their DID system has flaws - yet they chose to discontinue a safer system and implement a less secure system to save costs.

I am not impressed with Matrix's stated comment that discontinuing the Geoloc system was a business decision and that I have no option but to accept the effective downgrade.
