We are very disappointed with the service we received yesterday.
We had a reasonable lunch, and when we paid, the credit card machine gave an error message. However, my wife received a sms from the bank saying the money had been paid. The manager (Matthew) came over and printed out a transaction log from the machine, which showed that the money had not been reflected according to the machine. We were worried that paying again would mean us paying a second time. We asked Matthew that if the money came off a second time, could we come for a refund. He refused this, saying that it was our problem if this happened and that he did not want to deal with our problems. In doing this, he was very rude to us. This angered us considerably. After more discussion, where he refused to change his mind, we paid and left. Today when we went to our bank, the money had been paid twice, and the bank confirmed that Matthew should have refunded us. The bank phoned him, and he still denied responsibility.
One would expect much better service at a restaurant of this calibre. At least the manager should be civil.
