On the 31st Sept I had lunch at the Michelangelo Lounge Restaurant. When I presented my credit card for payment, a message on my cell phone showed that the transaction had gone through. The credit card machine however showed that the transaction had been declined. I told the waiter that it was impossible but he insisted that my card had to be swiped a second time. He called one of the managers and after much discussion and their assurance that this happens and that I would not be charged twice I let them swipe my card again. A few days later my bank statement reflected that I had indeed been charged twice. I went back to the hotel with printed proof and Mr Oberholzer who is the F & B manager reassured me that the mistake would be rectified. I gave him my printed proof and he told me to rest assured that he would take care of it. This was over a week ago and to date I have had no refund or a phone call regarding this matter. I left my business card with the manager. I am highly upset about this, why should I have to go back again and demand a refund for a measly R270? This is a 5 star hotel they should have refunded immediately and offered compensation for the inconvenience.
