I was disconnected yesterday, Thursday, with no warning 7 days before. I was then told by the guy who disconnected that if I pay him R375 I can keep my switch and he will hand his boss another switch. I am completely against bribes and refused. I was just leaving to write an exam so was unable to rush into town to fight for a reconnection. My husband paid the amount outstanding (R1000.00) and emailed and faxed through proof. This morning I wrote another exam (studied by candle light), and spoke to Lazarus Makena who said if I email proof of payment he will process it and will see about getting it reconnecting it, otherwise it will be only Monday as its a 48hour cut off and doesn't include weekends. At 14:30 I went home to study (another exam tomorrow morning) and still no electricity. Decided to call, I have been and still am, on the line for at least 45 mins waiting to speak to the disconnection section to see if my payment from yesterday was processed and reconnection will be done today. This is really not acceptable.
