Last year my uncle who was a military veteran applied for a government pension as he suffered from a mental disability after his 2 year service. I assisted him in September 2012 to get all his psychiatry reports, mental institute hospital reports etc. All was posted off and he was called to Durban for an evaluation in April 2013. He had the evaluation and the lady who carried this out informed us that she would post all off to Pretoria where they would make the final decision. I called on behalf of my uncle three times already to the department just to find out the progress. The third time I called the lady who was handling his file she informed me that the file had been sent to the in house doctor in June already. I asked is there a way to contact the in house doctor and she said no. I told this lady that in September 2013 this year it would have been a whole year since the application was done. She then told me that there are a few cases where applicants are still waiting for over 2 years for a decision. I would like to know why this is the case. Why are people being treated this way?
