I took my motor vehicle to Auto Baltic for a service. I removed my personal items out of the vehicle. However one of my mobile phones was left in the car. When conducting their own checks Auto Baltic did make a note that the cell phone was in the car.
My gripe with the company is that even after acknowledging that the phone was there they are failing to give it to me. I was advised that they cant find it and that they cant be held responsible for my loss.
I fully understand that they should indeed not be held responsible if i happen to forget stuff in the car, however the game changer here is that they did note that I left an item inside the vehicle. This then implies that the item can simply be taken out of the vehicle on the basis that they are protected by the statement that they cannot be held responsible.
My view is that once the item is noted by the company the implication of it is that they are responsible for the safekeeping of such an item, and i believe that they conduct own checks to make sure that as a customer my items are safe. That they can wash they hands at this point is downright arrogant and uncaring.
