Radio Not Part of Vehicle

I own a Megane Convertible and changed the battery. I took the vehicle in to get the radio to work. The attendant put in the code and then it requested a CD code. This only happens when the car has a shuttle. We do not have a shuttle. We have never had a shuttle. The radio has always been the original radio that came with the vehicle when we bought it. The person who attended us said that there is nothing he can do because the radio is not part of the vehicle. But it is the original Renault Radio that they put in when they made the vehicle. I need answers. I want the radio to work. This is not our fault. Someone please assist me.
