R10, 000 Deposit withheld without any explanation

I identified a car that I hoped to purchase from Seapoint Carmart in early September 2013. Since I didnt have all the money, I reached an agreement with Barry Goodlesser [Email Removed] for a trade in and cash balance deal. I forked out R40, 000 as deposit for the car as a gesture of committment with the balance to be settled in 2 weeks.
Due to unforeseen reasons, i had to pull out of the deal and that's where trouble started. I requested for my money back but i got feedback from Barry and Marlize [Email Removed] that they wouldn't give me all my deposit back because they would deduct their expenses (valet and vehicle registration) including the fact that for 2 weeks they stopped other cients from buying the car. They would then consider a "reasonable amount" according to their cancelletion policy (which I have never seen to date), and refund me. After weeks of waiting and requesting feedback, I went to yheir yard in Randburg. Barry refused to even see me and so I had to contend with Marlize. After a brief consultation between the two, I was contemptuously given a cheque of R30, 000 with a "take it or leave it" attitude.
R10, 000 of my hard earned money is still withheld.
