The sales person Michelle came and gave us a quote to shed paper. In the meeting they said the job would take 6 hrs so the daily rate of R8000 (plus VAT) would be the cheapest. Michelle confirmed if however the job took shorter we would be charged a minute rate. We signed the quote with terms and conditions. On doing the work we would thus pay the lower of the two. The job took 2.5 hrs and they charged us the higher daily rate.
On the invoice we asked to get the lower charge but when we called Shred-It they advised that we had signed their client service agreeement (quote) and must pay the full daily rate. At first they would not concede that they offered us the lower of the two but after lengthy telephone converations conceded. They then changed their tack saying that the minute rate was so high that the we should pay the daily rate anyway.
In essence they are not keeping to their word but are hiding behind the signed quote's terms and conditions in which the offer to take of the two is not explicitly written down.
Beware when dealing with them that you are prepared to pay their quote because what they say in the quote meeting cannot be trusted.
