My finance application was handled through McCarthy Finance, and though I should have requested a linked rate from my side, equally it was never mentioned or discussed what the rate would be, were I to choose linked rather than fixed. The deal has gone through, and Wesbank will not provide me with a quote as to what it would cost me to do the deal on linked rather than fixed, in essence meaning that I am compelled to change to Standard Bank, who are giving me a linked rate. All at Wesbank have confirmed this is my only option.
This is marginal insanity, i.e. I get the concept of changing from fixed to linked, but I have not yet made my first installment, and Wesbank has no way to solve this problem, and would rather lose me as a customer.
