Late last year, it had come to my attention that an account had been opened with MTN with my name and details.
I sent my certified ID copy and affidavit last year as was requested by SSDA, by fax. I however still received sms's requesting payment. I phoned to ask why was I still receiving notifications if I complied and they said they did not receive it. So I went and got another affidavit and faxed the documents again. I phoned to make sure that they had received the documents (I had the fax proof). They said that sometimes they do not receive faxes so I must email it. so I emailed the documents. I phoned back to confirm that they received it and they said that the police station's stamp is not clear and MTN would not accept it and I must have it stamped again and re-emailed. So I did that and lo and behold, a few days later, I receive a call from a gentleman at SSDA asking me why I was not sorting out my account. I was speechless.
I explained everything to him and couldn't help but wonder if anything I had been through was captured on the system because surely he wouldn't be phoning me then. And then today, I get yet ANOTHER sms demanding my account be settled.
