My husband received an sms stating he needs to pay his Markham's account (which he doesn't have anymore). When I called MBD I was advised that last payment was made in 2003!! Markhams has handed his file over to them last year and they have only started phoning him since last month. He has advised them last month that he does not have the account anymore and does not owe Markhams any money due to prescription the less it seems to sink in.
I phoned them myself this morning and spoke to a Patricia, who said it was for legal fees etc and it doesn't show that the account has been closed in 2003 and we must submit proof. We didn't keep the records because who would expect that 10 years!! later he would be called. I have asked them to send me the account and am still waiting for it
Surely MBD should check to see if debt has prescribed before wasting time and money to contact clients after 10 years and train their staff accordingly
