My daughter had a procedure done last year in August on her eyes, when it came to payment time discovery paid only a small portion of the fee sending me a statement to the effect that the doctor had presumably charged for the same procedure twice and that I as the member was not liable for the account. Lo and behold eight months and numerous calls and back and forth to I have lost count of consultants, and managers I am now at my wits end and I now have to settle this account as I have now been handed over to the Optometrists lawers. The crux of the matter is the doctor says discovery is wrong and the medical aid says the doctor is wrong, and guess who is left holding the can in the middle. This is not the first and I suppose not the last time I will be over by a doctor or the medical aid, We are just pawns in the middle forking out our hard earned cash left right and centre to institutions that don't give a flying about the well being of their cash cow customers.
