My son was born 3 weeks ago. I paid the doctor for the birth before hand because there was a 10% discount for paying the account before hand. This amounted to R 9, 495.00 for the birth (of which I have paid R9000). The claim was sent off to Discovery by the doctor after the birth. Discovery only paid me back a small portion of this money. Discovery says they pay for what they think the birth should cost, where in this country does a doctor charge that little for a delivery? I would really like to know because for the next birth I'd like that doctor. What is the point of medical aid and "fully covered under hospital benefits" if it's all a lie. I'm now R 6, 119.40 short because Discovery only sees fit to cover R 3, 375.60 of the total cost.
I find it totally disgusting that we have to pay so much per month and Discovery gives back so little.
