I have been a member at Discovery for just over 2 years now and i have a savings plan type medical aid. I'm Blessed enough not to have been in hospital during my membership but have therefore freely given Discovery atleast R45 000 of my money because i had the reasurrance incase anything did go wrong. However i have been made permenent recently which is also a cut in pay and this means i cant afford it anymore and my work only subsidises through GEMS.So far this year i have paid Discovery R5400 AND i have spent a medical aid savings of R3700.I assummed that i WOULD NOT OWE THEM ANYTHING because i havnt spent more than i have paid them for the year. They very easily told me that i still owe them R2211 because my savings doesnt work that way. When i asked to speak to the manager i was told by the consultant that there would be no point because they dont change the rules. Im not a rule im a person and i needed to end my contract because i cant afford it anymore and can prove it my my payslip so how does discovery deal with the human situation. I wasnt focussed on the money they have made off me these years and neither are they. How do i pay them R2211 and even afford TO PAY GEMS! this month
