My husband passed away on the 5th of December 2023 and he was with Bonitas medical aid from 1997. I applied to continue with the membership and I was furnished with a new medical aid membership number. I was hospitalised in Sunnyside mental hospital in Gqeberha due to depression because of the sudden passing of my husband on the 9th of February 2024. While in hospital I received an email that I owe an amount of R7890. 00 for the contribution of January and February and my membership was suspended which I deposited on the 14th of February. I deposited an amount of R3845. 00 on the 20th of February, again on the 20th of March I deposited an amount of R3845.00 and on the 19th of April I deposited an amount of R3845,00. According to my understanding I’m am paying in advance but the medical aid keep on e-mailing me saying I need to pay because I owe them an amount of R2300. Attached are the proof of payments I made to the medical aid can you advise what to do now because I don’t understand what to pay whilst I think I do not owe them any money. I am waiting for the employer to subsidise me and pay my medical insurance on my persal.
