I am going overseas for almost 12months during which time I will not be using my medical aid as I will be covered by insurance in my destination country. I contacted momentum in order to plan to just freeze my cover for that time. They replied that there is no such option and I should cancel my medical aid. They proceeded to say that I should reapply when I get back. That would mean that I am left uncovered for about a month after I return from my overseas trip. That is not acceptable to me. Why should I have to pay double for medical aid in both countries. If I then have to cancel and re-apply, I might as well get a different medical aid that offers the option of freezing cover for a time.
