I have been a loyal member of Bonitas medical aid for 5 years now. I found out I was pregnant in September and after running a series of tests, my gynaecologist indicated that I lack protein S which increases the risk of miscarriage. The DR then indicated that I need the CLEXANE injections in order to minimise the risk of miscarriage BEARING IN MIND THAT I ALREADY HAD 3 MISCARRIAGES! i also had a miscarriage scare with the current pregnancy n was hospitalised for 4days.
i applied to Bonitas for chronic medication (clexane) & sent all supporting documents. Now Bonitas is telling us that the application has been declined without any substantiating reasons! THIS MEDICATION COST 2400 PER MONTH ON TOP OF MY MONTHLY MEDICAL AID FEE! I now need to know:
o What are the reasons for non approval?
o Who made this decision and what are his/her credentials?
o Is Bonitas willing to take responsibility should I loss this baby due to the lack of this injections?
BONITAS is not even bothering to answer my emails!
