My husband has Barrett's oesophagus, a pre-malignant condition. This can be controlled, and prevented from progressing to a malignancy, using a drug called Nexium. Despite the urgings of a specialist surgeon, Discovery health refuses to allow this medication on chronic. I thought the purpose of any health insurance was to assist in saving lives - perhaps they would rather pay the surgery and oncology costs involved should my husband's condition progress to a malignancy?
Discovery is definitely not operating in the spirit of the medical world, Hippocrates would be horrified.
