I submitted a claim to Medihelp via their online service. i did receive notice that my claim was received and also that the claim was processed. the claim submitted was for services rendered by an orthopaedic surgeon and i had to pay his account upfront and then claim from the medical aid. the amount was R600-00. the claim was submitted on the 28th of May 2013 and upon inquiring, was informed by an official at Medihelp that the practice number for the surgeon is invalid. thus placing the onus of correcting this invalid practice number on me.
i really do not think that it is the responsibility of the patient to see to it that all details of the medical practitioner is correct. i think that when Medihelp saw their system showing the practice number to be allegedly invalid, to have followed up on it and rectify and not just sit back and relax. i do not work for medihelp and therefore should not be expected from to do their inquiries. R600-00 to me is a lot of money and i cannot afford to lose amount
