I recently re-joined Discovery Keycare. I needed to see a gynae. Being on medical aid &also having disclosed the condition on my application forms, I did not think obtaining authorisation would be a problem. The gynae that I was referred to is extremely busy &I could only get an appointment with her on the 17/05. I had about 2 weeks to obtain specialist auth. Discovery sent through pma forms to my GP to fill out as that is the procedure should you need to see a Gynae on a new membership, I was told by Discovery 3 days before my consultation that the auth was declined as they had not received the documents in time. I was not informed by discovery that the documents were not in receipt, had I known earlier I would have checked back with my GP. Due to the severity of my pain I had to see the gynae and pay out of my own pocket for my consult &medication which amounted to R2200.00. My gynae needs to see me again in 2weeks &I have personally sent through the required documents on the 21/05, I had not heard from Discovery and I called back this morning to check on the auth they say that it had been escalated further & that I will hear from them in 4-8 hrs. This is pathetic service!!!
