I went to see a GP on 13 jan 2013 to get a referral letter from the doctor for a routine gynae check up ..which I have not done in 4 years. I opened my medial aid approx 4 years ago, key care package and have not gone to the gynae once. Hence my urgency to finally go for a check up.
I have been paying for this medial aid for 4 years, I have not claimed anything other than maybe 3 GP visits over a 4 year period. No operations... no medication.
And all I want is 1 visit to the gynae to be covered. I do not want to pay upfront to a gynae and then chase a refund later. Especially since I have not "used" my medial aid much in 4 years. Am I not entitled to 1 gynae visit a year?
After I received my referral letter in January, I tried numerous times to get it approved via Discovery. And 3 times this request was declined. The Discovery panel was not very explanatory, basically just said sorry - your request has been declined.
I find this unethical and will most certainly not think twice about cancelling this account and going elsewhere. Heath is not something to mess around with. Its now April and I have still been unsuccessful in booking a simple gynae check up!
