On 28 March 2013 I underwent surgery and was under the impression that Medihelp will cover the full hospital fee including medical services rendered during my stay.
Recently I received a statement from the gynaecologist's rooms indicating he had not been paid for the procedure. I queried with Medihelp and was told there was no referral letter! This was not explained to me when I joined Medihelp. For crying out loud, I was in agony and went to this gynaecologist who found I needed to undergo a myomectomy. There was no time to go to a GP and then be referred to a gynaecologist. That is a waste of money in any case.
To avoid the possibility of being blacklisted I had to find the money to pay the doctor. Why do I have to pay exhorbitant medical aid fees each month if Medihelp chooses to pay one thing and not the other?
Isn't it strange Medihelp paid for my stay in the ward yet it chooses NOT to pay the gynaecologist for surgery conducted in theatre?!
It would be appreciated if Medihelp reimburses me for the money paid to the doctor.
