We bought an LG fridge in 2008 and since then, we have had to replace our fridge periodically every year / year and a half.
LG initially replaced the fridge (still under warranty), as well as the second one, however, now that the third fridge has broken - the EXACT SAME default being the problem every time, they are refusing to give us a replacement model as it is no longer under warranty. It has been less than two years since we received our third fridge, however, no all of a sudden LG is saying they only replaced the previous two fridges out of good faith as they were under no obligation to do so!!
How can you disregard a warranty and how can you replace a model and just decide that the brand new replacement model has no guarantee??? They want us to pay 50% of the value of the replacement model. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life!!
We have had NO joy from LG head office in Johannesburg and I have now lodged a complain with the National Consumer Commission. Surely we cannot have a practice in SA were a warranty depends on the good will of the supplier...??
