Why no replacement?

My son's phone, a Galaxy S4 which is supposedly a top-of-the-range phone, was purchased on the 1st September. He has had some connectivity problems with the phone just shutting down except that last week it shut down completely and could not be turned on again. Sagree at T.M. Electronics (Samsung Agents in Dbn) said it would be about a week for the issue to be sorted out. It is now 10 days later and I've been told that basically all internal parts have to be replaced. On a phone that is 4 months old!
Why is it not being replaced with a new one? If there is a general problem with a batch of S4's as I've been told, why should they not provide us with a new one? It's the least that should happen.
Also, they are still waiting for the parts to be sent from JHB - how long does that take? I could walk there and back quicker than it's taking.
S4? Top of the range? I think not! And Samsung? You should try to look after your customers. The first thing my son wants to do when he eventually gets his phone back is go on OLX and swop his S4 for an iPhone.
