Samsung TV only lasts a yea

I bought a Samsung plasma TV in August 2012 and now the panel is faulty. Do samsung TV's only last a year or so?? Judging from the other complaints on HelloPeter I seem to be wasting my time here. I was told from the store where it was bought that it is out of warranty - my problem, I need to have it repaired by a third party. Let us see if Samsung will respond...
