PLEASE HELP ME SAMSUNG

SAMSUNG HELP PLEASE!! I bought my beautiful 3D 43" plasma on 19 Feb 2012, last week it developed a 5cm wide vertical "dead" stripe. I took the TV back to Makro and was told that the TV only has a one year guarantee and that I should take it to Samsung, even though SAMUNG SA's website says it has a 2 Year guarantee.
This TV is used maximum 2 hours in the evening and is in brand new condition. It was unpacked, set up and never touched again. This is obviously a factory fault and now I have been told by Samsung that I will have to pay R3000.00 for a new screen?? On TV that is just over a year old, and not used allot? Please help me SAMSUNG, can you come to the party?
