Apple Standard Service Levels are below Pa

I converted to apple just over a year ago. Unfortunately Macs are great but they really are limiting and the repair service is below acceptable norms. My Macbook was subject to some superficial water damage and I took it to iStore in Gateway on 15 September 2013 for repairs.
1.No repairs done at Gateway or in Durban
2.Minimum 10 working days to assess and repair in Johannesburg
3.No hire or loan machine available leaving me stranded without a laptop
4.First communication acknowledging that machine was received was sent on 23 September 2013
5.The repair quote appeared excessive but I accepted it the same day
6.Next communication was that there was no part in stock...
7.I have not received a further follow up to date.
I sincerely cannot understand how a premium brand with premium price points can offer such poor service levels relating to an essential piece of equipment such as a Laptop. Be warned
