I own a LG bluray player that required a firmware update, which the LG website provides along with instructions on how to install it. However what they dont provide is the warning that the firmware they instruct you to download is not compatible with players from SA.Ctn Electronics are the official service agents for LG electronics in the Western Cape so they are the ones who feel full brunt of customer frustration. They don't deserve it though since they have repeatedly asked LG electronics to provide a warning to their customers that the firmware could likely brick the players. Cape Town Electronics were aware of my problem, treated me with respect and offered to repair the unit free of charge.
Thanks Cape Electronics, was a pleasure to see a large company with such a high ethic for customer service.
As a side note my player was a bp125 model and apparently this bad firmware can effect LG TV's connected to a network.
