We came across Couch Guys, manufacturers of customised furniture of 7 Jockey Street, Stormill (Roodepoort), when we bought our new home. Our main contact person is Craig, whom after 10 months has still not delivered our fully paid for dining room furniture. After a meeting with Craig on 9th March 2013, he insisted the price was only valid until midnight of the same day and that we need to pay him the whole amount of R62 000.00 before then or "the deal is off", in his own words. We also did communicate the challenge of the furniture production timeline due to lack of clarity on our move date into our new home. We did as agreed, and paid the R62 000.00 at a stipulated time. A lot has happened between then and now. Although we had the living room furniture delivered, 10 months later we are still awaiting the delivery of the dining room furniture. I've even reported the matter, in detail, to the Consumer Goods & Services Ombudsman and am waiting for their intervention in the matter. The lesson learnt for us is, stick to furniture shops or big and well known furniture manufactures and the small companies could be the result for headaches that could have been avoided.
