Double payment for diesel

I purchased diesel yesterday at Shell Bronberg Service Station, Glenwood Drive Faerie Glen. Upon paying with my FNB cheque card, the transaction reflected as "declined" on the saswitch machine, even though I immediately received an sms to confirm that the transaction was successfully processed and indicated the balance on my account after the amount was deducted. The ATM balance also indicated that the transaction was successful. The manager however insisted that the transaction was not successful and said it is a problem they often experience with FNB. I paid cash then for the diesel. My bank manager confirmed today that the transaction was pending, which means that the transaction was successful and that Bronberg Service Station was paid twice for the same amount. If Shell does experience regular problems with FNB, they should surely warn customers beforehand.
