Big Ordeal with faulty Renault Key Card

On Sat evening my daughter, driving a Renault scenic, was stranded in a game park near Hoedspruit because the Key Card was no longer recognised by the car. Discovery Insure contacted Renault SA Roadside Assist who would not assist because the card is no longer under warranty - there followed 3 hours towing of the card to White River; an extra day of accommodation; an extra days leave that had to be taken because the car could only be delivered to Renault Nelspruit on Monday morning when the branch opened.
First thing on Monday morning we contacted Renault Bryanston - where the car is serviced and were immediately helped - someone phoned my daughter and explained to her how to insert the key card so that the chip could be read. The car STARTED and she was able to return to JHB.
The whole ordeal could have been prevented had the agent known how to 'jiggle' the card and had he explained this to her. I phoned the call centre today (0861 736 2858) and was told that technical assistance is not provided after hours.
I am amazed - a small bit of training, which would cost you very little, could circumvent a possible disaster! :(
