I reserved and hired a Group A vehicle from Thrifty requiring transportation for 3 days. I used them due to their advertising of reasonable pricing. Little did I realize that cheap pricing comes with unexplained payments at the end!
I paid around R650 for the 3 days, of which I did less than 350km. At first the gave me a Nissan Micra which I only realized was not roadworthy when I drove out of the airport. The brakes were making some strange noise and the peddle went so far down that I felt almost no grip disks. I took the first exit and returned to Thrifty to ask for another vehicle as I could not drive one that was not going to stop. They kindly gave me another vehicle (Hyundai i10) in replacement of the Nissan.
When I returned the Hyundai on the 3rd day, I received 2 bills for 2 vehicles! Not only was the bills exorbitant, but also completely unreasonable. They charged me R86 for the "unroadworthy" Nissan for a fill up! Then they charged me R147 for the Hyundai for 10 litres of fuel fill up! When I returned the vehicle I filled up R157 after doing around 300km!
I don't know how Thrifty calculates fuel, but I know that them and their vehicles condition cannot be trusted!
