I took my 2005 VW Tauareg 2.5 Tdi for it's MAJOR service which cost me R9 300. After 1700km I took my first long trip to Cape Town and han a break down on the vehecli on the first day of my annual holidays. According to Tavcor George, the propshaft had to be replaced. My damages for the fixing my car was more than R13 000. To rent, tow in and other expenses R11 609. Total, service included R34 809!!! And it doesn't add value to my vehicle. My question is: if a expensive VW like this have a break down so easy why still (according to other cars) are supposed to be reliable, how is the performance on cheaper models? Is it worth buying a VW these days as it seems it i's a money machine for VW? Cheaper cars like Huynday, Kia, Toyota etc doesn't cost so much to service, and do not break so easily after a major service? I mean? I see VW is one of the companies on that does not respons. It gives a great reflection of their attitude, or am I wrong? I've spend more on this Tauarge than on all the other cars driven before. Services is extremely expensive.
