I used to love going to Blockman's. They serve great food. I pay for good service. I went to Blockman's on Saturday, December 15th to have lunch. I had to seat myself. The waiters just walked past me like I didn't exist. I am a Coloured woman, and when I tried to get the attention of the white waiter, he just glanced at me and walked past, proceeding to service the other white people in the restaurant. I waited for fifteen minutes, nobody even offered me an ashtray. I went to find the manager, and he tried to soothe me over. After another five minutes, a waiter appeared with a menu. Another ten minutes passed and nobody appeared to take my order. I went to the manager, Ian, who, again, tried to soothe me over and gave me his card, telling me to tell him that next time I come, I must give him a call and he'll "make sure I'll have the best time ever, and that the waiters must have partied too much the previous night." I fail to see how that is my problem. And why should I call him? I want a resolution, an apology and compensation. Because I felt like maybe my race was the issue here.
