Steers
Staff

I went to Steers at Waterglen around 16h40 on Wednesday 11 Dec 2013. I knew what I wanted, so I immediately joined the queue. I was the next customer to be helped behind a man and his granddaughter who were busy paying. While they were busy another cashier arrived and ignored me. Then a black gentleman entered the store and after standing next to me for about 1 minute, was called over by the second cashier and he was immediately helped. I showed my shock to both the cashiers by gesturing "What? " to the them, but was ignored. Immediately after this a black lady entered the shop and proceeded straight to the counter and was served immediately by the second cashier. I then raised my voice and said: "Am I also gonna get helped today? ". Only then did the first cashier call me over, no apology or anything. I got the clear message that I was to be served last, because I am white. It was highly uncomfortable and I will not return there. I tried to look for a name, but the (female) first cashier's name tag said "trainee" and the (male) second cashier's name tag was inside out, with the magnet on the outside. If that branch's staff is they must please keep it out of the workplace
