Why take my cellphone?

I arrived from Amsterdam on 04/07/13 at 21H00, O.R. Thambo Airport and had a connecting flight to Cape Town at 06H00 and decided to go and have something to eat and some wine. I got served by a Zimbabwean waiter who was very nice and managed to organise me some chicken nuggets. I had two beers then I ordered a bottle of Nedeburg Bonnite. As the evening continued the waiter recommended that I sit inside the restaurant by the booths as it was more comfortable and I could relax and catch a nap there, as everyone else was either sleeping or on their laptops. I decided to switch off my cellphone as the battery was running low and I feel asleep.
I was woken up by a waiter banging on my table and he said to me I must pay because he was going home and it was now 4AM, the bill was around R160 and I paid R200 by card. I thanked everyone and I proceeded to the check in of my flight, as I was in the plane they requested everyone to switch off their phones, that's when I realised that my phone was missing. the whole night I spent at mugg and bean and I switched off my cellphone before I feel asleep and now it was gone? I could not believe it, I called and they said there was nothing they
