We went to News Cafe Hillfox today for a nice family lunch. We arrived at 11:30, placed our drinks order and then our food order at about 11:40. At 12:00 the childrens meals arrived (NOT off a childrens menu, but off the normal menu!). 10 minutes later, my husband and I had still not recived our meals. At 12:15 our waitress informed us that the restaurant had run out of gas and that our meals would take another 20 minutes to arrive. We indicated that we were not happy with this and asked to speak to the manager. Apparently the manager had however left to go and buy more gas! We waited the further 20 minutes, only to then be told that it would be ANOTHER 20 minutes! This is all very strange as there are NUMEROUS places within a 3km radius of the restaurant that sells gas! And why were the kids meals cooked and not ours? Why is the place not managed properly with a back-up supply of gas? And in the meantime the staff kept seating more customers, serving them drinks and only THEN telling them that the actually couldn't serve them any food! We finally left at 12:45 - hungry and extremely disappointed and went to McDonalds next door. ANd if you want your money-come and get it
