Misleading Customers in order to make sales

I went to KFC Centurion to buy something at the drive thru since I was in such a hurry. The guy asked me to go inside the store to pay, since their EFT was not working. I was patient enough to ask my colleague to go inside and pay for the food While waiting for my colleague, the drive thru attendant asked me to move to the window since it works on a timer. when I got to the window, the lady told me to go to the parking area to wait there for my food. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF A DRIVE THRU
