Trace AlertUpon checking my credit report I found

Upon checking my credit report I found that there is a trace alert on my name done by DMC, I contacted them they told me it for a foschini account what I do not understand is how do you put a trace alert on someone when you haven't even tried to contact them because I have never received a letter or a phone call from them. The consultant that I was speaking to said I need to hold on for a supervisor who never came until I could not hold any longer. I made payment arrangments and I would like to request the trace alert to be removed as it was done unfairly.
