Missing ewallet money

I sent money on 30 November 2011 and the recipient just informed me that they never received the money. I checked my statement and the money was sent. I called enquiries and they can only check up to 6 months ago. I need someone to confirm or check this for me. I checked my statements and can not see the money being credited back to be either. Inquiries told me they can only check up to 6 months back (after being transfered from one department to the next) and was told i need to go to a branch. Last time I drew statements from the bank they told me they can only go 6 months back, so what would be the point? Is there any way of checking this or should I start warning my friends about using ewallet?
